ALWIN NIKOLAÏS' CYCLE

CARTE BLANCHE

Dominique BOIVIN

Daniel LARRIEU and Philippe DECOUFLE

28 JANUARY>1er FEBRUARY

Dominique Boivin studies dance with Carolyn Carlson and Alwin Nikolaïs, then with Merce Cunningham and Douglas Dunn. He dances for Philippe Decouflé and Daniel Larrieu and creates pieces for his own company, Beau Geste. Dominique Boivin’s last choreographies deal with very different universes.

Philippe Decouflé dances with Merce Cunningham and Alwin Nikolaïs after having studied circus and mime. He creates with the DCA company more than 20 performances and big popular events which give him an international fame.

A price at the Concours de Bagnolet in 1982 reveals the originality of Daniel Larrieu’s choreographical language, regularly renewed by numerous meetings with others artistic universes. Daniel Larrieu was director of the Centre Chorégraphique National of Tours before he rejoins his company Astrakan in Paris. He creates important pieces for important national and international theatres but also loves short forms for one or several dancers, occasions for artistical friendship.

The Atelier de Paris-Carolyn Carlson gives carte blanche to Dominique Boivin. For this masterclass concluding a new cycle dedicated to Alwin Nikolaïs’ pedagogy, Dominique Boivin invites Philippe Decouflé and Daniel Larrieu. Two artists who are part of this «family» that generated Nikolaïs’ teaching in France.
