PROFESSIONALS

Masterclasses

The Atelier de Paris-Carolyn Carlson offers professionals (dancers, choreographers, performers, educators) a high-quality, innovative and interdisciplinary continuing education program taught by some of the most important artists on the international scene.

Each season, the program units vary in approach (technical, repertory, reasearch and creative work), gathering together well-known and developing talented artists, choreographers.

Masterclasses

Rich in personal discovery, and ranging in duration from one to two weeks, the master classes are usually team-taught. Emphasis is placed on connections with other artistic disciplines (music, theater, studio art, and video), as well as on the development of new content and new methods related to current artistic and choreographic practice.

The Atelier de Paris also organizes extracurricular activities in partnership with other arts institutions in Ile-de-France. Participants attend performances and go behind-the-scenes with dancers and choreographers for Q&A sessions, getting a better understanding of the choreographer's universe in the process.

This season's offerings include several outstanding master classes with instructors like Deborah Hay, Carolyn Carlson, Dominique Mercy, and Meredith Monk. Two 2-week Creative Workshops taught by Alban Richard and Caroline Marcadé are the highlights of the 2009-2010 season. Creative Workshops are intensive, and guide a research group of 15 participants through the process of creating a short piece, which is then presented to the public.

The Atelier de Paris-Carolyn Carlson tailors its program to fit each student's professional needs and expectations.
