Joëlle Bouvier proposes to children aged 8-11 to experiment the weight of their body in developing the notion of fall, of gathering speed, of quickness and of slowness, to acknowledge the body of the other, to try to feel diverse qualities on the basis of stuffs, colour or animals. It’s all about giving the body information for its transformation, trying to make it multiple between abstraction and reproduction of reality. Joëlle Bouvier will work from the music of Charlie Chaplin’s films, in which rhythm is very central.
Joëlle Bouvier founds her company in 1980 with Regis Obadia. They cosign 15 creations that toured the world. In 1998, the choreographer begins a career solo with her own company and has a residency since 2004 in the Scène Nationale Les Gémeaux de Sceaux. In 2006 she creates a new solo Face à Face.
