Jonathan Burrows proposera une masterclass autour des questions de l’équilibre entre les nombreux éléments en jeu et leur croisement dans la création d’une performance, incluant concept, contexte, image, forme, dramaturgie, matériel et pratique quotidienne. La masterclass sera un mélange de travail pratique, étude de contenu vidéo, de lectures et de discussions, avec pour objectif de permettre à chaque participant·es de reconsidérer leur approche de leur propre travail et pratique. Cette masterclass sera donnée en anglais.

Jonathan Burrows
Jonathan Burrows est un chorégraphe connu tout particulièrement pour les œuvres créées depuis 30 ans en collaboration avec le compositeur Matteo Fargion, puis présentées en duo partout dans le monde. Leur travail est difficile à classer, alliant rigueur intellectuelle et humour inattendu, mais il trouve ses racines dans un amour partagé pour la musique classique et une approche de la performance à la fois anarchique et joyeuse. Son livre Un manuel de chorégraphe est devenu un bestseller international et est aussi disponible en français aux Éditions Contredanse (Belgique). Jonathan Burrows a été invité à enseigner à P.A.R.T.S (Bruxelles) pendant de nombreuses années, et est actuellement Professeur Associé au Centre for Dance Research de la Coventry University, en Grande-Bretagne.

Jonathan will lead a masterclass in Paris looking at questions of how to balance the many and overlapping elements at play in the making of a performance, including concept, context, image, form, dramaturgy, materials and daily practice. The workshop will be a mixture of practical work, watching videos, lectures and discussions, with the aim of allowing each person to re-examine how they might approach their own work and practice. This masterclass is for professional dancers and performers only and will be taught in English.
Jonathan Burrows is a choreographer whose main focus of work is a 30 year collaboration with the composer Matteo Fargion, with whom he continues to perform around the world. Their work is hard to place, combining intellectual rigour with unexpected humour, but it has its roots in a shared love of classical music and an approach to performance that is both anarchic and joyful. His ‘A Choreographer’s Handbook’ has become a bestseller internationally and is available also in a French edition published by Contredanse Belgium. Burrows has been visiting member of faculty at P.A.R.T.S in Brussels for many years, and is currently Associate Professor at the Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University.
